Taste of Colerain 1990 to 2016

ThankTaste of Colerain you Colerain residents, businesses and all who were ever a part of or attended the 27 years of the Taste of Colerain!

It is with a sad, yet energized and full heart, that the 27th Annual Taste of Colerain, held in August 2016, was the last year of this wonderful event that has been a huge part of the Township for the last 27 years. The Summer Events Committee has been toying with the idea for some time. Times have changed a lot in the 27 years since the Taste of Colerain was started by Frank Scholle and Charlie Homer and the other members of the LaSalle Knights of Columbus. The event was started for residents, to be focused on the family, and for residents to “enjoy an Old Fashioned community food and fun festival where Presented by Northgate Mallfriends and neighbors meet to feast on the sights, sounds, smells and excitement of friendly Colerain Township.” In recent years, the Committee has struggled with securing the number of volunteers needed to effectively put on the great event and live up to that original goal.

Coupled with the increased number of competing events in the Tri-State area on the same weekend, decreased support of corporate headquarters allowing our local chain restaurants to participate in community events, and the strain on Township personnel needed to help the Committee to set-up and staff the event, the Committee has decided to no longer put on the Taste of Colerain and instead focus on our original mission of an old fashioned festival by going “Back-to-Basics” with a patriotic 4th of July celebration.

4th of July Spectacular

The Committee’s goal is to return a small, family oriented 4th of July Spectacular event that is dedicated to our residents and that truly represents our fine community. We are a large community with a small town feel and we want to bring back an event that honors that! Back-to-basics, hometown Americana, family-oriented (no alcohol), old fashioned event that celebrates our Country and this great place we call home!

Colerain Township is the second largest Township in the state Ohio. We could not be more excited to bring back what we do best - fireworks! This spectacular show will light up the night sky on July 1st for 30 to 40 minutes and will be choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack. Our volunteers put on the entire show in house and they truly are the “Best in the West” in the tri-state area! The event will take place on Saturday, July 1, 2017, the Saturday before July 4th, and will feature free local entertainment, food from area food trucks, and free shuttle service. Additionally, we are keeping it centered on the family by making it alcohol-free! The Colerain Summer Events Committee, Inc. is excited to bring back this much loved community event!

Sincerely,
Tawanna Molter
